After much consideration and the fact that it almost happened. It’s an Axalotal. The single most useless pet ever. B really wanted one a couple of years ago for his birthday, this was just after we had been gifted a snake. Naturally, he did all the research that a 10 year could do at the time and was adamant I should just get him one. Read up online. Its limbs fall off, it eats itself, and it requires a lot of work which I don’t think someone at the age of 10 at the time could do. There was a lot more to them though. They are lovely, they are fascinating and I’m sure highly rewarding to look after but it’s a pass from me.
Still. Cool t-shirts you can get with them on. Relaxalotle. That is my favorite. Yes, I have issues buying amusing t-shirts that make me chuckle and never wear them more than once.
Best pets? Hm. That is a tricky one because I have birds. Budgees. I love them because of the lovely tunes and squeaks that come out of them. I can play with them and train them and they are really low maintenance. Emotionally as well. I can talk to them nonstop all day with everyone is out, get them to jump on my finger and let me hold them in my hand, the food never runs out, and they clean themselves in a bird bath. I could not ask for a better pet. Except for a dog. Dogs aren’t low maintenance. They also do NOT clean themselves after rolling in a mud puddle. They will fart at you constantly and find the best time to need a wee. But no, not just any old let them out the back wee. But in Dobby’s case, please hold my hand while I select carefully which bush to wee on. Then deciding he doesn’t like the garden and wants to go to the park at 3am in the morning. Getting shoes on and walking him across to it just so he can wee on his favorite spot. You bastard animal.
Then I can talk to a dog. I can love a dog and hug it. I can sit for hours while they sleep on my feet or across me. I can play with their hair, I can treat it to snacks, and see how happy the dog is. I see that they love me unconditionally and please, always love a dog the same way it looks at you. They deserve it. Especially these two being rescue dogs.
