The fog is thick, I can’t see a thing,
I’m lost, I’m scared, I’m all alone.
Every shadow is a monster,
Waiting to pounce, waiting to devour.
I walk on, my heart pounding,
My breath coming in short gasps.
In the distance, I see a light,
A beacon of hope in the darkness.
I walk faster, my legs pumping,
My dogs barking at my heels.
The light gets closer,
I can almost reach it.
I’m there, I’m safe,
I’m out of the fog.
I collapse on the ground,
I’m so relieved.
I look up at the light,
It’s a street lamp,
A simple thing,
But it saved me.
