Sea food. For whatever reason in my life, I have shied away from sea food. I’ve never tasted a prawn, but I like prawn cocktail crisps. I’ve never eaten lobster, nor cockles or anything like that. I have eaten cod, for obvious reasons as I’m sure fish & chips are up there in the scoreboard for us Brits.
I don’t know why I haven’t eaten them, but I’ve often been told I’m missing out. I’ve had crab a few times, which wasn’t bad. Tuna took me a long time to warm to it, even then only when it’s mixed with glorious mayonnaise and spread on a sandwich or a jacket potato. I suppose my first proper girlfriend in high school might be to blame for this. She bought a prawn sandwich at the ice skating place we went to. I must have been 14 at the time, and then she was ugly eating this sandwich, and one of the prawns fell out. It was at that moment I realized I don’t and will never like prawns.
I would like to try it but don’t really want to cook a whole lobster and end up throwing all of it away after one bite. Same with prawns, if I can get over the alien look then they might be in line for a try. What would you suggest? Sea food, yay or nay?

My dad was allergic to any sort of shellfish …
I love seafood of any type but where I live it is hard to get it fresh. We have a local restaurant, Bon Temps, that does New Orleans inspired food and they feature a “boil”. The chef cooks up a huge pot of seafood, veggies and sausage and then a big production is made of bringing it to the table where they literally throw it in front of you. There is a lot of yelling and banging on pots. Everyone digs in. It’s great fun!
